How Shopify Store BlendJet Made $163,633.50 Sales In 30 Days

Growth Marketing

BlendJet runs a Shopify store that sells the world’s most powerful portable blender. You can take the blender to the gym, office, school, traveling, and more. I could explain how good their blender is, or I could let BlendJet’s crew show you in 48 seconds why their blender is perfect for making fresh smoothies, shakes, margaritas, or baby food on the go.

Like a lot of other Shopify stores, BlendJet was losing a lot of sales when people added their product to the cart, but then left the store without buying.

That was before they found a strategy that allowed them to recover 3406 abandoned carts in 30 days, generating them $163,644.50 sales.

Here's the story of how they did it:

First, they got a 14-day free trial of Sumo and installed the Reduce Cart Abandonment Shortcut on their site. They then ran a Google Optimize experiment to test if it would increase or decrease their conversion rate.

The result from their first day?

  1. Revenue increased by 10.1% (increase from $3,739.34 to $4,118.94)

  2. Conversion rate increased by 16.7% (increase from 17.66% to 20.62%)

Here’s a screenshot from inside Google Analytics of the test they ran on the first day of their trial:

After seeing the results, Ryan Pamplin (Co-Founder and CEO) and John Zheng (Co-Founder and CRO) at BlendJet, ran Sumo’s Reduce Cart Abandonment Shortcut on their site for the full 14-day trial period. In the first 14 days, Ryan and John added 3,000 new email subscribers to their list:

That’s 3000 email subscribers that would have otherwise abandoned their cart and left the site. And because the offer is based on the behavior of the visitor (not just some random annoying popup) it converts at 29%. That’s 19x the industry average conversion rate of 1.5%.

Of the 3000 emails, 1336 converted into new customers, adding $63,861 to their Shopify store’s revenue:

Ryan and John thought Sumo’s $79 per month Ecommerce Plan (which includes the Reduce Cart Abandonment Shortcut) was worth the investment. So they paid for Sumo Ecommerce. After 30 days, they were making a 1,036x return on their investment.

Here is Ryan and John’s ROI (1,036x ROI = $163,644 total sales divided by $158 for two payments to Sumo):

Now I know what you’re thinking… “This works for BlendJet, but it probably won’t work for my Shopify store.”

That’s stinkin’ thinkin’.

This EXACT same strategy works for every Shopify store we’ve tested it with. Here’s another 10 Shopify stores who’ve got over 10x ROI with it.

BlendJet didn’t even pay a designer to make their offer look pretty.

They’re literally using the default design template inside the Sumo Reduce Cart Abandonment Shortcut.

BlendJet’s Three Step Strategy To Get 1036x ROI In 30 Days

Here’s how BlendJet’s strategy works:

  1. BlendJet’s online shoppers see this form with a 10% off offer when trying to abandon their cart page or checkout page.

  2. Screenshot showing google search results

  3. Shoppers who activate the offer can copy the discount code to their clipboard, or click Continue to add it to their order with one click.

  5. Sumo automatically redirects shoppers back to the Shopify checkout page with the discount code applied, so they can complete their order.

The average discount code redemption rate across all Sumo tools is 16.51%. Using this strategy, BlendJet gets a 47.66% redemption rate.

Other Shopify stores using this strategy are seeing similar redemption rates to BlendJet.

How?

With Sumo’s Reduce Cart Abandonment Shortcut all your shopper has to do is:

  1. Enter their email address.

  2. Click one button to get the offer applied to their purchase.

No checking email, getting distracted on Facebook Messenger, or any of that other stuff that reduces conversions.

All you have to do is:

  1. Connect your Shopify store to Sumo.

  2. Activate the Reduce Cart Abandonment Shortcut.

  3. Sumo will take care of the rest (making sure your shoppers get taken straight to your Shopify checkout page to redeem your offer and buy).
